About the Pomeroy Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber of Commerce is an organization of businesses with a MISSION to support and promote business in Pomeroy and Garfield County. The Chamber has over 50 members and meets the first Thursday of the month. The public is always welcome to attend meetings and participate in promotional activities planned throughout the year.

The Chamber’s 2005 Mission focused on the following three words:

Community, Community, and Community

Our activities centered around fostering:

  • Community Spirit
  • Community Involvement
  • Community Development

To be successful we rely on everyone in our community. In 2005 we partnered with the Spinner’s organization to raise much needed funds for the renovation of the Spinner’s Maple Hall, a community building that holds fond memories for many citizens and former citizens of our community.

Other partnerships included support of the Agricultural History Museum, the Pioneer Association Parade, and the Garfield County Fair.  Chamber fund-raising activities included the traditional Fair Cowboy Breakfast at the Spinner’s Maple Hall with early deliveries to exhibitors at the Fair Grounds. Rounding out the year was a highly successful Holiday Season Kick-off on Friday after Thanksgiving. Events which included a Holiday Bazaar, the 1st Annual Santa's Starlight Parade (a huge success!), and special in store activities throughout the holiday season such as a chocolate extravaganza the first weekend in December.

In addition to the promotional activities, the Chamber of Commerce is actively involved in the Downtown Revitalization Project; the design and development of the new downtown park, the Pioneer Plaza; and of course, working hand in hand with the Palouse “Economic Development Commission and the Garfield County Port District on Business Development.  We are very pleased and excited about the expanded availability of high-speed Internet access made available through the deployment of Qwest DSL service which covers Pomeroy and Pataha.  First Step is also expanding their Wireless Network which will bring high-speed broadband services to a significant portion of Garfield County.

In 2005 the Chamber also opened a downtown office and Visitor's Information Center.  Volunteers staff the office so hours are irregular.  Our goal for 2006 is to  increase the office availability and organize promotional collateral to facilitate increased visitor access.

The Chambers 2006 Mission will continue to focus on the Community.  Our emphasis will be on increasing business memberships and participation as well as actively encourage Business Develpment.
